Original job description

About Zero to Agent: Zero to Agent is an AI consulting firm. We work directly with owners and their leadership teams to find where AI can change how their business runs. Then we design and build custom AI systems their people use every day. Every engagement follows the same path: an AI audit, a transformation roadmap, delivery with our engineers, and a Chief Agent Officer (CAO), the AI agent we set up for each client’s team.

The Role: This is the lead consultant role in our AI practice. Clients hire Zero to Agent for the thinking you bring. You walk into a business, work out how it really runs, and see what its owners can’t, including AI opportunities nobody had considered. You’re the client’s trusted advisor from the first audit call until their team has adopted what we built. The founders focus on strategy and growth. Our engineers build what you design with them.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Diagnose the business. Lead the AI audit with the owner and leadership team. Go past the standard questions. Map the organization, how work actually flows and who decides what. Then find the real problems, decide what to fix first and what to leave alone.
  • Find the opportunities others miss. Spot where AI can do more than automate a task, such as new ways to serve customers, run operations or make decisions. Bring ideas the client didn’t know to ask for, and back each one with the value it creates.
  • Build the roadmap and win the room. Turn the audit into a transformation roadmap. It ranks priorities by value, feasibility and adoption effort, recommends a Phase 1 and lays out a 30/60/90-day plan. Present it to the leadership team and get their commitment. Our AI tools draft much of the material. You own the insight and check every finding against what the client actually said. Commercial leadership owns pricing and contracts.
  • Design solutions with our engineers. Work with engineering to turn each priority into a custom solution. Map the workflows, define requirements, scope and acceptance criteria, and test the plan for what to build. Engineering owns technical design and production systems. You make sure what they build solves the client’s real problem.
  • Lead change and adoption. Bring the client’s people along. Run kickoffs, working sessions and training, set up each client’s CAO, and work through resistance until the new way of working sticks. Stay the client’s single point of contact, keep decisions moving, and measure and report what changed.
  • Shape the practice. Report to Kensho and own an initial client portfolio within one delivery pod. Turn what works into the methods, playbooks and standards future consultants use.

What Success Looks Like:

  • First 30 days: Shadow audits, roadmap presentations and CAO setups. Learn our audit system and run parts of each.
  • By 60 days: Lead audits and roadmap presentations. Kensho reviews each roadmap before it goes to the client.
  • By 90 days: Run the whole engagement for your own clients, from audit through adoption, without a founder on the calls.

What You’ll Need:

  • Three to five years in management or technology consulting, transformation, implementation or a hands-on operating role.
  • A diagnostic mind. You can walk into an unfamiliar business, map how it works and pinpoint the problems that matter most.
  • Experience leading discovery with owners and executives, and presenting recommendations that decision-makers act on.
  • Fluency with AI. You use it daily, keep up with what it can do now and see uses beyond the obvious. You know enough about automation, APIs and integrations to design solutions with engineers.
  • Experience leading change management and adoption, and measuring what changed after launch.
  • Evidence of taking client work through implementation and launch, beyond the recommendation.
  • Clear writing and speaking with business leaders and engineers alike.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience at McKinsey, Bain or BCG in implementation, operations, digital or transformation.
  • Delivery experience in technology consulting, SaaS or an early-stage business.
  • Experience setting up AI assistants or agents for a team, including instructions, knowledge sources and permissions.
  • An established team you have shipped work with. Teammates apply separately to relevant roles; each person is assessed individually.

Perks & Benefits:

  • Compensation and ownership. CAD 75,000-110,000 annual base salary, equity participation and an outcome-based bonus tied to delivery quality and client results.
  • Health coverage. Medical, dental and vision benefits.
  • Founding impact and development. Work directly with founders and clients, shape a growing consulting practice, and receive a professional-development budget and access to approved AI tools.

Zero to Agent welcomes applications from qualified candidates of all backgrounds.

  • We are hiring an AI Transformation Consultant in Toronto, with hybrid working and full-time employment. Apply through LinkedIn with your CV or professional profile. Shortlisted candidates discuss a project they delivered, their contribution and the result; share public or anonymized examples only. Final-round candidates review a sample discovery transcript and walk us through the problems, priorities and AI opportunities they see, and the roadmap they would recommend.
