Original job description

  • Required Skills:
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in solution architecture, application architecture, performance engineering, or enterprise technology delivery.
  • Strong Energy and Oil & Gas domain experience, with knowledge of Geology, Geophysics and Reservoir Engineering application environments and user workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing end-to-end application landscapes across applications, compute, VDI/HPC, workstations, storage, network, security, monitoring, backup, recovery, and support processes.
  • Experience with application performance diagnostics, evidence-based root-cause analysis, technical remediation, stabilization, and future-state design.
  • Ability to design secure, scalable, resilient, supportable target-state architectures and implementation roadmaps.
  • Experience facilitating architecture workshops and producing current-state, target-state, integration, deployment, data-flow, security, and operational architecture artifacts.
  • Familiarity with GGRE applications such as Petrel, SeisWare, Hampson Russell/GeoView, GeoGraphix, and GeoScout is preferred.
  • Experience working with application vendors, infrastructure and operations teams, business representatives, security teams, and architecture governance authorities.
  • TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification is preferred; AWS or Microsoft Azure architecture certification is an asset.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end IAE architecture workstream for the GGRE Application Performance Improvement and Future-Readiness Program.
  • • Consolidate existing incident history, problem records, prior investigations, architecture materials, vendor recommendations, performance evidence, and completed changes.
  • • Assess the current-state environment across applications, workflows, data flows, compute, VDI/HPC, workstations, network, storage, security, backup and recovery, monitoring, and support processes.
  • • Establish measurable performance baselines and identify application, infrastructure, data-flow, configuration, and operational root causes.
  • • Define and document the approved target-state architecture, technical design, operating model, remediation roadmap, implementation waves, testing approach, rollback approach, monitoring requirements, and operational ownership.
  • • Create architecture and technical design artifacts and support their review, revision, and approval through applicable governance processes.
  • • Translate business, operational, and technical requirements into scalable, secure, resilient, high-performing, and supportable solutions.
  • • Provide architecture direction during implementation of approved application, configuration, data, storage, compute, VDI/HPC, workstation, network, security, monitoring, and operational changes.
  • • Coordinate with application vendors and technical teams on tuning, configuration changes, product guidance, and validation activities.
  • • Define and oversee representative functional, performance, resiliency, recovery, and user-workflow testing against approved acceptance measures.
  • • Identify architecture drift, unsupported configurations, technical debt, constraints, dependencies, and delivery risks, and communicate practical recommendations to decision-makers.
  • • Support production stabilization, operational documentation, knowledge transfer, and transition to support teams.
  • Contribute reusable architecture patterns, standards, decisions, and roadmaps while managing multiple stakeholders and concurrent priorities.
