Role Description The Arial Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in North York, ON. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing aerial telecommunications infrastructure, including towers, antennas, transmission lines, and related hardware. Day-to-day tasks include climbing and working at heights, routing and securing cables, assisting with microwave and fiber deployments, performing basic testing, documenting work performed, and supporting troubleshooting activities under the guidance of senior technicians. The Arial Technician works closely with field crews to meet project timelines, comply with safety procedures and industry standards, and ensure high-quality workmanship on every site.
Qualifications
- Strong technical aptitude for aerial telecom work, including familiarity with towers, antennas, transmission lines, and related hardware.
- Basic understanding of fiber optic, microwave radio, or RF systems, with willingness to learn deployment, alignment, and testing practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely at heights, including comfort with climbing structures, using fall protection, and following safety protocols.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools, rigging equipment, and measuring instruments relevant to construction and telecom installations.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, construction drawings, and installation guidelines, with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow directions, support crew leads, and collaborate in field environments.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel to different sites and work extended or irregular hours as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in telecommunications, construction, or a related field is an asset.
- Previous experience in telecom, construction, utility work, or other field-based roles involving physical labor and outdoor environments is an advantage.
