About the Role:
Position: Security Guard – Escort & Surveillance (D AVOP Qualified)
Location: Toronto Pearson International Airport | Mississauga, ON
We are seeking qualified D AVOP Security Escort Professionals to support the safe, secure, and compliant movement of authorized personnel throughout Toronto Pearson Airport's airside and terminal restricted areas, including associated buildings and operational facilities across airport property.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide professional escort and surveillance services to contractors and visitors who do not possess the mandatory airport access clearances required to independently enter designated restricted areas.
As a member of our specialized aviation security team, you will play an essential role in maintaining airport security protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance, and safeguarding the integrity of restricted airport operations.
This position requires exceptional situational awareness, independent judgment, and the ability to consistently uphold strict aviation security standards in a dynamic, highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Regulatory Compliance & Operational Control: Demonstrate the ability to operate under positive control, adhering to all rules, regulations, and operational procedures established by the Airport Authority.
- Restricted-Area Escorting: Professionally escort contractors and visitors into, throughout, and out of designated restricted areas while maintaining absolute Care and Control of all escorted individuals.
- Airfield Safety Compliance: Strictly observe and maintain all airfield escorting ratios as established and enforced by the Airport Authority.
- Aviation Directives: Recognize, interpret, and comply with all applicable directives outlined in Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and instructions issued by the Airport Authority.
- Professional Radio Communications: Maintain clear, concise, and effective radio communications in accordance with the guidelines established by the Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Certificate – Aviation (ROC-A).
- Secured Work Area Management: Establish and maintain clearly identified work areas for operational closures, pullbacks, and call-ups while ensuring continuous line of sight, care, and control within secured areas.
- Visitor Pass Administration: Accurately complete and validate all required Visitor Pass Certificates, ensuring contractors and visitors maintain possession of their credentials and display them appropriately at all times.
- Identity Verification: Ensure all escorted contractors and visitors possess valid government-issued identification throughout their time on airport property.
- Security Documentation & Acknowledgement: Ensure contractors and visitors fully understand, acknowledge, agree to, and sign all applicable terms and conditions governing Visitor Passes and Certificates.
- Construction Site Security: Assist in conducting thorough sweeps of designated construction sites under the supervision of appropriately qualified AVOP personnel, ensuring compliance with applicable airport security and operational requirements.
Required Qualifications & Professional Standards:

Mandatory Credentials:
- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence
- Valid Purple Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
- Valid D Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP)
Professional Competencies & Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively for extended periods without direct supervision.
- Strong command of the English language, with the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly and proficiently.
- Physical capability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods as required by operational demands.
- Ability to maintain a consistently high level of alertness, concentration, and situational awareness throughout extended shifts.
- Proven integrity, dependability, sound judgment, and a consistently professional, positive, and courteous manner.

Additional D AVOP Requirements:
Candidates must also possess:
- A valid G class Provincial Driver's Licence with a minimum of 5 years of driving experience.
- A valid Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Certificate (Aeronautical).
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to operate a radiotelephone unit, including two-way communication equipment used to maintain direct contact with the Escort Supervisor.
