About the Opportunity
Acara Solutions is partnering with a well-established, industry-leading Canadian manufacturing organization to recruit an experienced Maintenance Manager for its Langley, BC facility.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead maintenance operations within a highly automated, fast-paced production environment. You will oversee a team of Maintenance Supervisors and skilled trades professionals, ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency and a safe working environment.
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical maintenance background, proven leadership experience in a unionized manufacturing environment and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the plant maintenance team, including Maintenance Supervisors, administrators and skilled trades professionals.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize production downtime.
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements, occupational health and safety regulations and company safety standards.
- Manage maintenance schedules, work orders and preventive maintenance activities using Maximo or similar CMMS software.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime and control maintenance costs.
- Collaborate with production and other departments to resolve equipment issues and support daily manufacturing operations.
- Manage maintenance budgets, labour resources, contractors and equipment-related expenditures.
- Lead, coach and develop maintenance personnel, identifying training needs and supporting employee performance.
- Maintain positive union and employee relations while ensuring compliance with collective agreements.
- Oversee equipment repairs, plant improvement projects and the implementation of capital projects.
- Support product quality, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance throughout maintenance activities.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum of 8 years of industrial maintenance experience, including at least 5 years in a management or leadership capacity.
- Proven experience managing maintenance operations within a unionized, highly automated manufacturing facility.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or a recognized trade certification as a Millwright or Electrician with relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of industrial equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and equipment reliability.
- Experience leading Maintenance Supervisors, skilled trades professionals and multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
- Working knowledge of CMMS systems, maintenance scheduling and work order management.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets, operational costs and capital projects.
- Strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, including WorkSafeBC requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with production teams while managing competing operational priorities.
What Sets You Apart
- Previous maintenance leadership experience in high-volume manufacturing, ideally within food, beverage, packaging or consumer packaged goods.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting, industrial automation and programming modifications.
- Familiarity with Maximo maintenance management software.
- Knowledge of HACCP, CFIA requirements and food safety standards.
- Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment uptime, safety and maintenance efficiency.
- A strong mechanical or electrical background combined with demonstrated success leading teams in a unionized environment.
