Our client is seeking a Marketing Analyst – Product & Market Intelligence to support product strategy and new product development within a technical manufacturing environment.
This is not a traditional digital marketing, advertising, or campaign-focused position. The role is focused on understanding markets, competitors, customers, products, and emerging opportunities and turning that information into recommendations that Product Management and Engineering can act on.
You will research questions such as: What are customers asking for? What are competitors selling and charging? Where are new markets developing? What problems are customers experiencing with existing products? Are there gaps in the market? And what products or improvements should the business consider next?
The position works closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Operations, Quality, and Marketing and is responsible for gathering, analyzing, organizing, and communicating product-related information throughout the product lifecycle.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will conduct ongoing research into market trends, emerging technologies, customer applications, industry developments, and new product opportunities. You’ll monitor competitor products, pricing, specifications, technologies, patents, launches, and strategic activity and translate those findings into clear recommendations.
You’ll also gather and analyze Voice of Customer information from customers, distributors, sales teams, and other sources to identify recurring problems, product-improvement opportunities, and emerging needs.
A major part of the role is taking research and turning it into useful business information. Rather than simply reporting data, you’ll help answer what the information means, why it matters, and what the company should consider doing next.
You will support product-development documentation, including Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), Customer Requirements Specifications (CRS), business cases, presentations, product summaries, and Stage-Gate documentation.
You’ll also support beta testing and product validation, product-performance reporting, forecasting analysis, lifecycle planning, and the continuous improvement of product-development and market-intelligence processes.
What We’re Looking For
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, Business Analysis, Technical Communications, or a related field is preferred, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience in areas such as market research, business analysis, product development, product support, technical documentation, or engineering administration.
Experience working with manufactured, industrial, technical, or engineered physical products is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate brings strong market research, competitive intelligence, analytical, technical-writing, and communication skills and is comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You should be someone who enjoys working with incomplete information, asking the right questions, identifying patterns, and converting research into recommendations.
Experience with Voice of Customer, competitive analysis, New Product Development, Stage-Gate processes, product requirements, business cases, product strategy, or market intelligence would be particularly relevant.
This opportunity would suit candidates coming from titles such as Market Intelligence Analyst, Product Analyst, Market Analyst, Product Research Analyst, Product Strategy Analyst, Competitive Intelligence Analyst, Product Specialist, Product Development Analyst, or an industrial Product Manager.
