Responsibilities
- Ensure equipment and systems are constructed, installed, and commissioned in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.
- Review engineering drawings, schematics, technical documentation, and construction packages to identify potential issues and ensure accuracy prior to execution.
- Conduct inspections at fabrication facilities and project sites to verify workmanship, installation quality, and readiness for testing and commissioning.
- Coordinate commissioning activities by arranging required tools, test equipment, technicians, and other resources.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to align field activities with project schedules, milestones, and budget requirements.
- Act as a key technical liaison between engineering teams, project management, customers, contractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
- Support troubleshooting efforts by identifying mechanical and electrical issues, guiding technicians on corrective actions, and assisting with technical decision-making.
- Monitor project progress and help ensure construction and commissioning activities remain on schedule and within project objectives.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to field teams while maintaining a hands-off, supervisory approach.
- Travel regularly to fabrication facilities and customer sites to oversee construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Maintain professionalism and composure in complex technical environments while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
Essential Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical systems knowledge gained through engineering, trades, or equivalent industrial experience.
- Experience working with industrial equipment such as generators, engines, rotating equipment, power systems, cooling systems, or related mechanical/electrical assets.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Hands-on field experience supporting installation, commissioning, maintenance, assembly, or construction activities in industrial environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities in demanding operational environments.
- Ability to remain organized and productive while managing competing priorities and project deadlines.
- Understanding of project execution fundamentals, including scheduling, resource planning, and cost awareness.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in power generation, industrial equipment, packaged systems, construction, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Exposure to commissioning processes, project coordination, scheduling, or cost tracking activities.
- Experience serving as a technical point of contact between customers, contractors, engineering teams, and field personnel.
- Interest in moving from a purely technical or hands-on role into a leadership and operational oversight position.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.
