Job Summary
Reporting to Supply Chain Management, the Senior Buyer / Planner plays a key strategic and operational role in the company’s value chain. You will be responsible for the strategic management of a portfolio of suppliers specializing in the supply of components essential to the manufacture of our lighting product lines.
In this role, you will oversee the complete purchasing cycle while ensuring that procurement policies are aligned with corporate objectives for cost, service levels, and inventory turnover. Recognized for your relationship-building and tactical expertise, you will serve as the steward of the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process and contribute directly to strategic cost-reduction programs (cost-saving initiatives).
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- End-to-End Purchasing Cycle Management: Lead the entire process, from issuing requests for quotation (RFQs) and conducting comparative bid analyses through purchase order placement, follow-up, and receipt verification.
- Tactical Portfolio Management: Manage and optimize the portfolio of suppliers providing components for lighting production.
- Tactical Alignment of Procurement Policies: Define and implement procurement tactics aimed at optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO), maximizing internal and external service levels, and efficiently managing inventory levels.
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Establish and monitor supplier key performance indicators (KPIs), conduct periodic evaluations, and develop sustainable partnerships while rigorously monitoring quality and delivery performance.
- Purchasing Cost Optimization: Identify savings opportunities, lead tactical commercial negotiations, and actively participate in the company’s annual cost-reduction initiatives.
- Additional activities: any other additional activity bringing value to specific processes related to Logistics and NPI
Skills and Minimum Experience Required

Qualifications and Key Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or university diploma in supply chain management, operations management, business administration, logistics, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of five years of progressive experience as a buyer in a manufacturing environment.
- International Expertise: Strong command of international purchasing processes, including knowledge of international transportation logistics.
- ERP Systems: Demonstrated experience using and leveraging an integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for materials control and management.
- Agility and Prioritization: Strong organizational and analytical skills, with demonstrated agility in managing priorities within a dynamic and evolving manufacturing environment.
- Customer Focus: A customer-service-oriented approach, both internally and externally, and an excellent ability to collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams.
Preferred Assets
- Experience sourcing cast parts (casting).
- Hands-on experience managing cross-functional supply chain projects.
- A professional certification (e.g., APICS, CPIM, CSCP, or Supply Chain Canada) is considered an asset.
