The firm represents public agencies, municipalities, special districts, law enforcement entities, and their employees in complex, high-exposure litigation matters throughout California.

Unlike traditional volume-driven insurance defense practices, this position offers attorneys the opportunity to work on complex, high-stakes matters involving substantial motion practice, strategic case development, and direct client counseling.
Responsibilities
- Manage litigation matters with guidance from senior attorneys and partners
- Draft and argue substantive motions, including dispositive motions
- Conduct all phases of written discovery and discovery-related motion practice
- Take and defend depositions
- Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial
- Attend court appearances in state and federal courts
- Communicate directly with clients, expert witnesses, and opposing counsel
- Assist with trial strategy, witness preparation, and trial proceedings
Qualifications
Required
- Active membership in the California State Bar
- Experience handling civil litigation matters
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to independently manage discovery and motion work
- Excellent advocacy and communication abilities
Preferred
- Public entity or government defense experience
- Federal court experience
- Civil rights litigation experience, including Section 1983 matters
- Employment litigation experience
- Deposition experience
- Trial, arbitration, or evidentiary hearing experience
