The successful Mechanical Design Engineer, will join a team of dedicated engineers with the goal of pushing the edge of what is possible with professional audio products. Success in this role requires a strong interest in product design, acoustics, physics, design for manufacture and the drive to perform in a competitive industry.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and prototype mechanical components, enclosures, rigging systems, and integration hardware for new and existing products.
- Design of plastic parts and review of their respective molds.
- Actively contribute to New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, supporting cross-functional teams through all phases from design validation to production launch.
- Support product design and development with emphasis on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to ensure seamless transition from concept to scalable production.
- Participate in design reviews and failure analysis, using tools such as FEA and root cause analysis to ensure structural integrity under rigging, vibration, and environmental stresses.
- Maintain organized design documentation, revision control, and contribute to the development of internal best practices for mechanical design and product lifecycle management.
- Ensure all designs meet applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., CE, RoHS, rigging certifications).
Skills and Qualifications
- Completion of a minimum of bachelors degree in Physics or Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of similar work experience design engineering.
- Proven experience bringing finished products to market.
- Knowledge of molded assembly design
- Strong CAD skills.
- Experience with FEA / BEM Software (COMSOL, Ansys, etc.).
- Familiarity with acoustic principals is an asset (can be learned).
- Able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong analytical, computer and problem-solving skills.
