Team: Marketing
Hi Potential Co-Worker,
My name is Arry Pandher. I’m the Head of Growth and Marketing at AdmissionPrep.
We are building Canada’s best online education consulting company for students to have a future full of options. Education and careers are changing, and our platform helps students plan their post-secondary journeys and apply to top universities across Canada and the US.
As a Social Media Creator, you’ll plan, film, and deliver short-form videos exclusively for AdmissionPrep. Your content will educate and inspire students and families, showing how AdmissionPrep helps students build a future full of options.
We have an editor on staff to support you. If you love editing, you’re welcome to edit some of your own posts as well.
The details
- Contracted and flexible Social Media Creator role
- Compensation: approximately $22–25/hour, based on experience, for 12–25 hours/week
- Location: Hybrid. We work in-office and remotely, with an office at a co-working location in Mount Pleasant alongside other Vancouver startups. Remote candidates outside Vancouver are welcome to apply.
- Job type: Part-time, with potential to scale hours during peak seasons
- Placement period: October through April–May
- Work cadence: Typically, Monday–Tuesday for filming, organizing, uploading and editor handoff; Thursday–Friday for scripting, storyboarding and content planning. If you have classes or other commitments on certain days, we’re happy to work around them and agree on a schedule that works for you and the team.
- Eligibility: University students are welcome to apply. Our preference is a current university student, but if you’re not a university student and want to give it your best shot, go for it. We’d love to see what you can create.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality short-form videos for AdmissionPrep’s TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts
- Learn our brand, audience and content frameworks
- Attend weekly content planning and scripting/storyboarding sessions, bringing ideas and hooks
- Film 6–7 short-form videos per week for AdmissionPrep
- Organize and upload all takes the same day, following our naming conventions
- Create a concise shoot report with timestamps of the best takes and hand off to our editor
- Track deliverables in our content calendar and meet weekly targets
- Collaborate with the team to improve hooks, angles and calls to action based on performance
Qualifications
- You’ve been in front of the camera many times, either in your own content or someone else’s content
- You love making social media content, following trends and crafting short-form videos from hook to call to action
- You take initiative and ownership of your work
- You’re comfortable on camera and confident delivering scripted content with clear audio
- You’re organized: you manage calendars, name files properly and meet deadlines
- You understand TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts storytelling, including hooks, pacing and retention
- You’re positive, coachable and collaborative, and you put feedback into practice
- You’re low-ego, high-output and ready to create consistently
- You have a smartphone you can film with and enough available storage to complete a shoot without running out of space. You can store footage on your phone or another device until it’s uploaded.
- If you’re working remotely, you have an environment where you can film consistently, whether that’s on campus or where you live.
- You understand brand standards, including what is and isn’t appropriate to show on camera for an education brand, and can adjust your background and surroundings accordingly.
Yes, we know how hard it is to keep enough storage free. We provide shared drive and cloud storage so you can upload your recordings after filming for our editor to use.
