Role Summary:
The Trainer for YESS program which we are calling ‘Employable You’, supports eligible young persons to achieve employment training and licences that they may not typically have access to, making them much more competitive in the labour market. The trainer will facilitate group intake session, complete individual pre-employment screening; facilitate enrollment in accredited training, manage individual throughout training, assist with job seaching activities under the IESD program, and create market strategies for next group of attendees into the program.
*This is a temporary role with possibility for extension.
Work Locations (On-Site): Burk's Falls, Barrie, Peterborough.
Candidates must be able to work on-site at one of the above office locations.
Education:
- Completed post-secondary education in relevant field from a recognized Canadian Institute, or its equivalent
- Appropriate certifications and/or training relevant to the field
Experience:
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, or managing youth employment programs that help young individuals gain skills and job readiness.
- Two years related experience
- Facilitating group in-person presentations
- Employment in case management, counselling, and/or assessment roles
- Collaborative work with community partners, employers, and training providers
- Supporting vulnerable individuals including youth and people with disabilities or barriers to employment
Required Skills:
- Highly motivated individual with ability to work unsupervised in challenging environments
- Strong adaptability skills when faced with uncertain and changing processes due nature of work for a start-up project
- Strong organizational skills with the proven capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including public speaking, presentation, negotiation and consultation skills, and the ability to proactively establish and sustain effective stakeholder relationships
- Experience in Employment Services and the service delivery issues facing these organizations
- Well-developed ability to undertake research and to prepare, collate and organize data
- Must be able to provide a clear enhanced police check
Knowledge:
- Understanding of youth development principles and challenges facing young job seekers
- Knowledge of accredited training opportunities
- Knowledge of disabling conditions and accommodations
- Understanding of careers and occupations, various job requirements, job search techniques, career planning/counselling
- Knowledge of community and government resources available
- Knowledge of local, regional, and provincial labour markets
- Ethical decision-making
Responsibilities:
- Ensure active marketing of Employable You program
- Provide pre-employment assistance through the identification of Participants skills and abilities.
- Consistently demonstrate high level communication skills when liaising with Participants, external and internal stakeholders
- Conduct all Participant, employer, and network interactions with professionalism and a high-quality customer service.
- Consistently demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to meet and adjust to changing management and operational needs
- Identify strategies to increase Participant capacity for sustainable employment through vocational counselling, training, retention support, and job search skills.
- Develop and maintain up to date individual Employment Action Plan (EAP) in conjunction with the Participant.
- Actively develop working relationships that demonstrate equity and respect of different cultural perspectives and diversity.
Schedule: Hours are flexible within location-specific hours of operation. Extended hours may be required.
