About The Role
The Data Scientist - Level 5 at McKesson is a strategic leadership position dedicated to advancing the company's data science capabilities. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated predictive analytics and machine learning models that support data-driven decision-making across the enterprise. Qualifications
Candidates should possess expertise in model deployment patterns, including batch and stream processing, along with scalable scoring solutions. A strong understanding of model evaluation frameworks, champion-challenger testing, and lifecycle metrics is essential. Experience with ML model interpretability to meet governance and audit standards is required. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in predictive modeling across various business problem types within production constraints, as well as advanced skills in synthetic data generation for augmentation and privacy-preserving purposes. Strong business acumen is necessary to translate analytical insights into actionable recommendations. Leadership capabilities include guiding the design and development of analytics solutions and mentoring junior data scientists to ensure high-quality delivery.
Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end process of designing, developing, and deploying advanced predictive analytics and machine learning models to address complex business and IT challenges.
Oversee the integration, preparation, and management of large datasets, architect specialized databases, and maintain computing environments optimized for data science projects.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to data science team members, promoting adherence to best practices in modeling, automation, and data visualization.
Create and present data visualizations, dashboards, and analytical insights to leadership, IT, and business stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable outcomes.
Collaborate with engineering and service management teams to align data science solutions with strategic business needs and coordinate resources effectively.
Communicate predictive insights and recommendations to leadership, influencing strategic decisions and operational improvements.
Drive the adoption of emerging technologies and innovative approaches to enhance McKesson's data science capabilities and maintain industry leadership.
