Your Next Challenge
You will work for the Engineering Department and report to the Engineering Superintendent. You will provide engineering design, planning, coordination, and oversight for the construction projects of the Upper Beaver Underground operation. Typical projects include vent raises and doors, dewatering infrastructure (pumping stations, sumps), bulkheads, electrical substations, and other permanent underground infrastructure. You will also serve as the primary liaison between the construction teams and the operations team, ensuring effective communication, coordination of activities, and seamless integration of new infrastructure into ongoing mining operations.
- Achieve goals and objectives while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and commitment to environmental stewardship;
- Prepare construction drawings based on engineering criteria for standard infrastructure;
- Liaise with consultants to coordinate engineering design or quality control testing where it cannot be completed internally;
- Act as the key interface between construction and operations teams, facilitating communication, coordinating schedules and work priorities, and ensuring construction activities are aligned with operational requirements;
- Coordinate project handovers and commissioning activities to ensure completed infrastructure is safely and effectively transitioned to the operations team;
- Support procurement of construction materials in collaboration with the Supply Chain team to ensure timely delivery;
- Perform quality assurance and quality control on all materials and construction activities to demonstrate compliance with approved designs and specifications;
- Complete as-built drawings and documentation to maintain accurate records of construction;
- Develop cost estimates and construction schedules for projects in collaboration with the Short-Range Planning Engineer to integrate construction work into the mine plan;
- Monitor expenditures and project progress to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery;
- Provide field support during project construction, including acting as the owner's representative for work completed by contractors;
- Work collaboratively with long-range and medium-range mine planning engineers, providing input into two-year and five-year mine plans;
- Lead or support other construction and infrastructure activities as assigned by the Engineering Superintendent;
- Identify and resolve construction-related issues that may impact operational readiness, safety, schedule, or project performance.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering, or equivalent, with eligibility for P.Eng registration with the PEO;
- At least 10 years’ experience in the mining or construction industries with 5 years’ experience in underground mining;
- Must be familiar with a CAD based design software. Experience with Deswik considered a strong asset;
- Underground electrical knowledge considered an asset;
- Must be able to work with diverse teams;
- Must have strong independent and collaborative problem solving skills, good time management and organizational skills.
