Role Description This full-time, on-site role based in Ottawa, ON is for a Java Software Release Engineer with strong cybersecurity expertise. The individual in this role will manage and execute software release processes for Agnovi’s investigative and case management products, including planning, building, packaging, and deploying Java-based applications. Daily responsibilities include coordinating release schedules with development and QA teams, maintaining configuration baselines, automating build and deployment pipelines, and monitoring release quality and stability. The role involves implementing secure coding and deployment practices, conducting security reviews of release artifacts, and collaborating with cybersecurity specialists to address vulnerabilities. The engineer will also document release procedures, maintain release-related tooling, and contribute to continuous improvement of release engineering and security best practices.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Release Engineering and Release Management, including planning, coordination, and execution of software releases.
- Strong skills in Configuration Management and Software Configuration Management, with experience maintaining version control, build scripts, and environment configurations.
- Hands-on Software Development experience, preferably with Java-based applications and related frameworks and tools.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, secure SDLC practices, and security-focused deployment processes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, build automation tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle), and source control systems (e.g., Git).
- Knowledge of application security testing tools and methods, including vulnerability scanning and remediation workflows.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA, operations, and security professionals.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and release quality.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in public safety, law enforcement, or regulatory technology environments is an asset.
