Reporting to the Manager, Lending Products and FPT Policy, the Senior Policy Analyst provides leadership, coordination, development, and knowledge/skill transfer to internal and external teams involved with business risk management (BRM) policy issues and initiatives within the Corporation, Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation , and throughout the country. This involves designing, planning, managing and evaluating major projects, as well as the coordination of cross-government initiatives. In the leadership of these highly complex processes, this position acts as a change agent interacting with interest groups, business, industry, and staff from the provincial and federal governments. Duties also may include preparation of briefing notes and board submissions, responding to action requests on behalf of the Minister and MLA’s, making presentations to various audiences and representing the department and corporation at various levels, and providing mentorship and direction to the Policy Analyst role. This position operates in an environment which is both highly political and technically based.

What will you be responsible for?
- Research, analyze, and monitor emerging agricultural and BRM policy trends, legislation, and regulatory developments to identify risks, opportunities, and strategic priorities.
- Develop innovative policy solutions, recommendations, and strategic frameworks to address complex agricultural and business risk management challenges.
- Prepare executive-level briefing materials, concept papers, discussion papers, and policy recommendations for senior leadership and decision-makers.
- Provide expert policy advice and consultation to internal leaders, government partners, and industry stakeholders.
- Lead stakeholder engagement, consultation, and collaboration activities to gather input and build support for policy and program initiatives.
- Coordinate and participate in cross-departmental, intergovernmental, and national working groups, committees, and partnerships.
- Support the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of policy and program changes, including AgriRecovery initiatives.
- Mentor and provide guidance to policy team members while leading collaborative projects and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications
- This position requires a post-secondary education with a Bachelor's Degree specializing in business, economics, agriculture or public policy, and six years of related experience is combined with an excellent knowledge of risk management in Canadian agriculture.
- Experience in formulating strategic policy recommendations and developing and maintaining working relationships with internal and external partners is essential.
- Equivalencies may be considered.
