Role Description The Lead Boiler & Hydronic Systems Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. This role oversees installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of boiler and hydronic heating systems for commercial, industrial, and multi-residential properties. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing system issues, performing preventive maintenance, optimizing system performance and energy efficiency, and ensuring compliance with safety and TSSA regulations. The lead technician coordinates work with junior technicians, provides on-the-job training, and supports project planning, documentation, and reporting. The position also involves interacting with clients on-site, explaining technical findings, recommending solutions, and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in boiler systems, hydronic heating applications, and related piping and pumping components.
- Experience with commercial HVAC systems, including VRF/multi-split equipment and integration with building automation and controls.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and control issues in heating and hydronic systems.
- Knowledge of energy management practices and performance optimization for HVAC and hydronic equipment.
- Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including supervising technicians, delegating tasks, and maintaining safety standards.
- Effective communication and customer service skills to interact with clients and site stakeholders professionally.
- TSSA certification and other relevant trade licenses (e.g., Gas Technician, Steamfitter, Plumber) are strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in commercial or institutional HVAC environments within the GTA or similar markets is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites across the Greater Toronto Area.
