Airswift is seeking a Lead Piping Engineer to work on a contract basis with one of our major clients in Calgary, Alberta.
As a Lead Piping Engineer at client, you will provide senior-level technical leadership and project delivery expertise within our Canada West Engineering team. This role is responsible for leading complex piping engineering scopes across large capital projects and/or portfolios of small to medium projects, while ensuring technical excellence, safety, quality, and alignment with client's global engineering standards and client expectations.
- Lead piping engineering for large, complex projects.
- Manage and mentor teams of up to ~15 engineers and designers.
- Oversee engineering deliverables through all project phases.
- Monitor budgets, schedules, and project performance.
- Support change management and resource planning.
- Oversee several small-to-medium projects simultaneously.
- Coordinate engineering resources across projects.
- Ensure consistent application of engineering standards.
- Act as the senior technical authority for complex piping issues.
Key Technical Accountabilities
- Develop and review: Design bases, Specifications, Datasheets, Engineering calculations, Technical reports and Drawings.
- Support: FEED and detailed design, Procurement activities, Technical bid evaluations and Construction and commissioning.
- Conduct engineering studies, risk assessments, and technical reviews.
- Manage scope, schedule, and cost changes.
- Mentor engineers and support capability development.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks.
Required Experience
- Extensive piping engineering experience in: Oil & Gas / Energy, Chemicals, Mining & Metals, Infrastructure and Heavy Industrial projects.
- Experience leading large capital projects.
- EPC/EPCM project delivery experience.
- Strong cross-discipline coordination skills.
Technical Knowledge
- Piping design and engineering principles.
- Piping system execution throughout the project lifecycle.
- Piping stress analysis (preferred).
- Regulatory and industry standards including: ABSA requirements, ASME codes, ASTM standards, CSA pipeline standards (asset)
Education & Certifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) with APEGA, or eligibility for immediate transfer.
