About this opportunity:
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Verification & Validation (V&V) Test Engineer to support the testing, integration, and commissioning of mission-critical embedded systems within a highly regulated transportation environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and executing test plans, procedures, and reports to validate system and software requirements. This role involves in-house testing, integration activities, commissioning support, defect investigation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure systems meet performance, quality, and safety standards.
This opportunity is ideal for an early-career engineer with experience testing embedded real-time systems and a strong interest in systems integration, verification, validation, and commissioning activities.
What Youâll Do:
- Analyze system, subsystem, and software requirements to define validation methods, test objectives, and test cases.
- Support integration and testing activities both in-house and at project sites to reduce commissioning risks.
- Prepare and execute test procedures in accordance with established Verification & Validation (V&V) plans.
- Perform commissioning and integration testing activities in laboratory and field environments.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts.
- Prepare detailed test reports documenting test results, pass/fail status, and identified issues.
- Investigate test anomalies through analysis of data files, system documentation, and collaboration with development teams.
- Prepare and maintain defect reports within the defect tracking system.
- Conduct traceability analysis between requirements and test cases.
- Participate in design reviews and technical assessments.
- Support problem identification, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of integration issues.
- Perform independent reviews of test results and documentation.
- Develop technical knowledge through formal training, on-the-job learning, and self-study.
- Follow established testing methodologies, processes, and quality standards.
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 1-2 years of experience testing embedded real-time systems, software, or hardware-based solutions.
- Experience working with mission-critical or real-time embedded systems.
- Knowledge of software and systems testing methodologies, processes, and procedures.
- Ability to develop test plans, test cases, and test documentation.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of railway signaling systems and technologies.
- Experience with systems integration and commissioning activities.
- Experience creating automated test scripts.
- Understanding of Verification & Validation (V&V) processes within safety-critical environments.
- Knowledge of requirements traceability and defect management practices.
- Familiarity with transit, transportation, or rail industry projects.
- Understanding of the interactions between engineering, development, integration, and testing functions.
