Alberta College of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine

ACATCM (Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine), founded in 1997 in Calgary, is a post-secondary institution focused on acupuncture education, clinical training, and the preparation of healthcare professionals. In 2026, ACATCM entered a new phase as a degree-granting institution with the introduction of the four-year Bachelor of Acupuncture (B.Ac). The institution’s academic approach is centred on integrating traditional acupuncture knowledge with modern biomedical understanding, supported by structured clinical training. ACATCM aims to develop practitioners who are grounded in classical principles while able to work within contemporary healthcare environments. Beyond teaching, ACATCM is working to strengthen its role as an academic institution by advancing program development, faculty engagement, and the integration of research into education. Its direction includes building a more structured undergraduate framework, supporting scholarly activity, and contributing to the broader conversation around acupuncture as a regulated health profession in Canada.
