Accounting Clerk
Support accurate and timely financial processes at ACSA
The Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) is looking for an Accounting Clerk to support the day-to-day financial administration activities that help keep operations running smoothly.
You will coordinate accounts payable activities, help maintain accurate and complete financial records, and provide backup support for the Finance and Accounting team. Working closely with vendors and members of the Finance team, you'll support accounting activities, assist with month-end processes, and contribute to routine reconciliations and journal entries while helping ensure transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
Through your administrative support, collaborative approach, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy, you'll play an important role in supporting ACSA's financial integrity and operational effectiveness.
Position level
Administrative role providing accounting and data entry support to the Finance team through routine accounting activities. Works independently and collaboratively within established procedures to support accurate and timely financial transactions. The role exercises sound judgment in carrying out assigned responsibilities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Coordinate accounts payable activities: Process vendor invoices and stakeholder expenses, verify approvals, process various payments, and help ensure transactions are completed accurately and on time.
- Support stakeholder relationships: Build positive working relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders by responding to inquiries, resolving discrepancies, and providing accurate and professional service.
- Maintain accurate financial records: Enter and update financial information, maintain organized accounting documentation, and ensure records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Support month-end activities: Assist with routine month-end tasks, including preparing documentation, reconciliations, journal entries, and following up on outstanding items in accordance with established procedures.
- Contribute to process consistency and documentation: Support process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and consistency within the Finance team.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism: Handle sensitive financial information with discretion while demonstrating integrity, respect, and accountability in all interactions.
- Provide team support and coverage: Provide backup support for Finance team members during absences to help ensure continuity of day-to-day financial operations and excellent service delivery.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring:
You bring a strong commitment to accuracy, organization, and customer service. You're comfortable supporting day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining financial records, and working collaboratively with vendors, stakeholders, and Finance team members. Your attention to detail, professionalism, and collaborative approach help ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
- Completion of, or working towards, a post-secondary diploma or certificate in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- 1+ years of experience in accounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping, business administration, or a related role.
- Required skills and abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and a high level of discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a contributing member of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience using Adobe Acrobat.
- Working knowledge of accounting software and basic accounting principles is considered an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, stakeholders, and colleagues.
- Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and support their resolution.
Logistics
- This position requires a 40-hour work week.
- This role is eligible for a hybrid work model (ACSA Edmonton office).
- This role reports to the Manager of Finance & Accounting.
Salary: $54,000+
