Emergency Health Services – Alberta (EHS-AB) is one of Canada’s largest integrated emergency medical systems, providing care to over 750,000 Albertans annually through a province-wide model encompassing dispatch, ground ambulance, aeromedical response, and specialized clinical programs. As the Fleet Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting Alberta’s Emergency Medical Services by coordinating the Vehicle Equipment Supplies Service Technician (VESST) Team, resources, and processes that help ensure ambulances, medical equipment, and critical supplies are available, safe, and ready for service across the province. Working within a provincial team, you will contribute to the success of this pilot project as we expand our VESST program to support operational readiness through program coordination, logistics planning, inventory oversight, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives across the province. This position is ideal for an organized and collaborative professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex operational challenges. You will work closely with frontline staff, operational leaders, vendors, and support services to coordinate activities, monitor program performance, and support the delivery of fleet, equipment, and supply-related services. Your ability to manage competing priorities, analyze operational needs, and build effective relationships will be essential to success in this role. As a provincial coordinator, you will contribute to process improvement, resource planning, service delivery initiatives, reporting, and emergency preparedness activities. Description:
As a Fleet Coordinator, you will coordinate a team of Vehicle and Equipment Supply Service Technicians (VESSTs) to ensure that ambulances, medical equipment, supplies, and emergency response stations meet provincial standards and applicable regulatory requirements. You will serve as a technical expert in fleet, facilities, medical equipment, and supply management and will maintain a strong understanding of workflow processes across all five provincial operational divisions. Your typical duties include coordinating with operations teams and vendors to ensure vehicles, equipment, supplies and facilities are maintained, repaired, and available in accordance with operational requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support CPR certification. Must hold, or eligible to obtain, a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence (or equivalent), along with a five (5)-year driver abstract dated within six (6) months prior to commencing work, with no more than six (6) demerits. Proof of the successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, verified by certificate from Lifemark, is required for those all applicants who do not currently hold a clinical position (including VESST, Clinical Educator, EMR, PCP, ACP, and Community Paramedic roles). The F.A.R.E. test must be completed within six (6) months of the application date. Verification of results may be conducted through Lifemark. Additional Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be able to travel out of town and stay overnight for extended periods on short notice in extenuating circumstances. Candidates must be able to be around sick or injured patients and provide patient care when called upon. The working environment for a Fleet Coordinator is demanding and includes exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind, moving traffic, and industrial and agricultural equipment. You will need to travel in all weather conditions and to remote locations (e.g. backcountry) with exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes and direct exposure to bodily fluids. The working conditions for an Fleet Coordinator are also physically demanding. You must be able to endure frequent lifting and carrying of up to 105 lbs. while transporting and transferring supplies and equipment. You must be able to endure frequent, simultaneous kneeling and trunk flexion for extended periods. Additionally, you must stand and sit for extended periods, bend, twist, side-carry up to 20lbs in each hand and assume awkward positions. Candidates should have certification or proven skills and ability with computers, including an in-depth understanding of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. This position is eligible for the Rural Capacity Investment Fund recruitment incentive.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with experience as a fleet manager, VESST or EMS practitioner, and supervisory experience, as well as experience with Fleet Management Software in Holman and Fleet Board use. Warehouse and stock experience is also considered to be an asset.
