Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly detailed individual for the position of Food Services II that is dedicated to both high-quality work and food safety. This Temporary Part Time position is located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. This Food Service II position utilizes math skills, prepares complex infant feeding recipes, labels, monitors, receives, and delivers specialized infant formulas, modulated infant or pediatric formulas, and human milk. Adheres to all food safety and sanitation regulations and standards established by regulating agencies and the health care facility. Performs inventory management, operates feeding preparation equipment, maintains sanitation in the feeding preparation room, performs quality improvement activities, completes temperature/sanitization records, and communicates effectively through various telecommunication modes and electronic charting systems. The position participates in training, compliance and quality improvement initiatives and fosters positive relationships with staff. They are required to participate in a new hire orientation. This position completes other duties in Patient Food Services (PFS) as assigned by the supervisor. Must adhere to Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Nutrition, Food, Linen & Environmental Services (NFLES) policies and procedures.
Description:
As a Food Service II, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with established standards and procedures. Your typical duties include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables, and serving areas. In addition, you will perform specialized duties, which may include ingredient and inventory control and providing customer service support.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of a safe food handling certificate from an accredited food services program. Computer skills sufficient to meet the requirements of food service programs (e.g. CBORD).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience in healthcare, preferably in a role related to infant feeding products. Familiarity with formula types, expressed or donated human milk, fortifiers, preparation methods, nutritional content, and specific requirements. Ability to accurately measure and prepare formulas, label containers, and maintain accurate records. Demonstrate knowledge of weights, measures, and accurately perform mathematical calculations. Ability to use problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues regarding product preparation, storage or delivery. Demonstrated adherence to HACCP, IPC, universal precautions, food safety regulations, proper hygiene and sanitation procedures. Proficient organizational skills to manage inventory, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Ability to work well under pressure. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to read, write and communicate with proficiency in English. Ability to perform basic computer skills. Ability to stand, bend, and walk for the entire shift, ability to lift up to 46 pounds frequently and occasional lifting to shoulder height required. Food Safety Alberta Certification required. A skill assessment will be conducted to assess the required qualifications needed for the role. Preferred Qualifications:
Formula/Human Milk Technician Certification preferred. Canadian Society of Nutrition Management is preferred. WHMIS training preferred. Knowledge of EPIC preferred. Experience with Formula Calculator preferred.
