Your Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and motivated registered nurse to add to our team of nursing professionals at the Gastroenterology Endoscopy Unit at the Foothills Medical Centre. This position reports to the Managers and Nurse Clinician and provides safe, effective, high-quality Endoscopy nursing care. The nurse will have in-depth knowledge and expertise related to Endoscopy workflow and the patient population. Duties include assisting the physician with scoping procedures, administering procedural sedation, providing pre and post-procedure care for patients undergoing endoscopy, providing patient education, and other duties as required. To excel in this role, you will need excellent communication and prioritization skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Our clinic is fast paced, ever evolving with many specialty procedures to learn as your experience grows with our team. Current hours of operation are 0700 – 1815hrs and may change to meet operational requirements. On-Call requirements over night and on weekends in a rotational basis.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse on an acute care medical surgical unit, ER/ICU, endoscopy or GI unit. Recent experience in providing direct IV push drug administration and experience with procedural sedation required. Ability to function independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment required. Excellent communication, organization and decision-making skills are required and a demonstrated ability to interact within a multi-disciplinary team. A professional manner focusing on ensuring a very positive patient experience. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job which can include pushing and pulling stretchers and equipment in and around the department and hospital, repositioning of sedated patients and standing for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 35lbs from waist to shoulder/floor to waist.
Preferred Qualifications:
A demonstrated knowledge of gastrointestinal medicine and anatomy/physiology is preferred. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and adapt to dynamic, emergent situations. Demonstrated ability to work within Connect Care on the Lumens platform and navigate Netcare.
