Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Accountant to support the financial operations of our warehouse business. Candidates must have at least 2-3 years of hands-on warehouse accounting experience. This role is responsible for accounts receivable and payable processing, inventory accounting, financial data preparation, reconciliations, month-end closing, financial reporting, vendor coordination, and general office support, ensuring smooth and compliant business operations. The ideal candidate can handle multiple tasks with precision and professionalism, communicate collaboratively, and apply strong analytical skills to solve problems while maintaining high standards in a time-sensitive environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the accounting department.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with tax preparation, including federal and provincial income taxes, payroll deductions and remittances,
GST/HST, and applicable provincial sales taxes.
- Perform accrual accounting and maintain accurate financial records.
- Process journal entries, debits, and credits accurately.
- Prepare bank and petty cash reconciliations on a timely basis.
- Manage payroll processing and prepare related reports.
- Track, reconcile, and record month-end inventory; coordinate with inventory teams to ensure costing accuracy.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audits, including interim and year-end audits.
- Prepare sales analyses and reports to support management decision-making.
- Communicate with customers and vendors to resolve accounting-related issues.
- Use accounting software for reporting, analysis, and data management.
- Provide support on technical accounting matters as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or a higher qualification.
- At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience as a Warehouse Accountant or in an accounting role directly
responsible for warehouse operations is required.
- Strong understanding of applicable Canadian accounting and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial work.
- Familiarity with Canadian regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is required.
