Role: Backend Java Engineer
Location: Toronto, Canada (3 days office)

Required Skills
- Core Java concepts: Data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming
- Experience developing Java-based applications.
- Experience with Java frameworks: Spring, Hibernate, and Struts is also desirable.
- Knowledge of Web Technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Build and maintain microservices-based architectures
- Develop and optimize data access using SingleStore (MemSQL)
- Design and document RESTful APIs using Swagger / OpenAPI
- Implement secure authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0 and JWT
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices
- Create and execute unit tests using JUnit5 and Mockito
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend and performance issues
- Work in a Linux-based development and deployment environment
- Collaborate closely with frontend developers, DevOps, QA, and product teams
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Experience with Microservices architecture
- Proficiency in SingleStore (MemSQL) or similar distributed databases
- Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI for API documentation
- Solid understanding of OAuth 2.0, JWT, and application security
- Experience with JUnit and Mockito for unit testing
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment
- Good understanding of RESTful API design principles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
