Position Overview
The IT Coordinator is responsible for supporting and maintaining Amaranth’s technology infrastructure, including POS system, Microsoft 365 applications, network-connected devices, hardware, software, and end-user technology needs. This role serves as the primary contact for day-to-day technical support, system administration, troubleshooting, and coordination with third-party vendors to ensure business operations run efficiently and securely.

Key Responsibilities
General Technical Support
- Provide technical support to employees across all departments.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, printer, email, and connectivity issues.
- Respond to help desk requests and ensure timely resolution of technical problems.
- Set up, configure, and maintain computers, mobile devices, peripherals, and user accounts.
- Maintain and support POS hardware and software, terminals, payment processing devices, receipt printers, and related equipment.
- Coordinate updates, testing, and implementations.
- Work with vendors to resolve system issues and ensure uptime.
- Manage and support Microsoft 365 user accounts, licenses, groups, and permissions.
- Assist with security setting, password management, and multi-factor authentication.
- Maintain inventory records for technology assets and equipment.
- Assist with backup and recovery processes and business continuity efforts.
- Document and label IT procedures, configuration, and troubleshooting guides.
- Coordinate repairs, warranties, service requests, and system implementations.
- Assist with technology related projects, service requests, and new system rollouts.
- Research and recommend technology solutions that are proactive and improve efficiency and performance.
- Assist with cybersecurity initiatives, user awareness, and access management.
- Monitor for potential security risks and reports concerns to management.
- Support compliance requirements related to technology systems and data protection.
- Follow company IT policies and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Certificate, diploma, or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- 2+ years of IT support, help desk, or systems administration experience.
- Experience supporting POS systems in retail preferred.
- Experience administrating Microsoft 365.
- Experience supporting software training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Microsoft 365 Administration (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
- Familiarity with Linux, Windows, VPN setup, router configuration, SSH, and OS programming.
- Windows operation systems and workstation support.
- Basic networking concepts including TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, switches, and routers.
- Hardware troubleshooting and device deployment.
- User account management and security best practices.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and ability to prioritize multiple requests in a fast paced environment.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability with work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail.
Time Requirements:
- Primarily office hours, however some flexibility is required as needed, including days, evenings, and weekends, particularly if there is a system failure
- Some travel within Calgary and occasional travel across Alberta/Canda may be required
Basic Physical Requirements:
- Primarily office based, sitting for extended periods and perform computer-based work
- Walk, bend, twist, and reach overhead and below shoulder level
- Use of ladders (up to 12 feet), office equipment, and inventory tools
- Lift items up to 50 lbs. with available support tools
