Job Description Summary
As part of AMECO’s Integrated Scaffold Solution (ISP), scaffold designers perform the critical function of preparing scaffold 3-D designs within the construction engineering model as well as scaffold designs for a multitude of access requirements on client support job locations. The Scaffold Designer/Engineer reports directly to the Scaffold Design Manager for the LNGC JFJV project and is responsible for drafting/reviewing the Engineered drawings, interpretation of the access required for construction and maintenance activities, and creation of scaffold designs for field execution or estimating purposes. The Scaffold Designer shall generate and review these drawings with appropriate leadership to ensure that the scaffolding is adequate to perform the work as designed.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate 3D modeling and 2D layouts per manufacturers' specifications, to BC OHS Regulations, Company policies and contractors’ requests
- When required, draft engineered drawing to be sent to an engineer to be stamped
- Provide a detailed plan and estimate for each scaffold required during the engineering phase of the project
- Plans for pre-planned scaffolds are to include CAD drawing, material take off, piece counts / weights, and man-hour estimates per work package
- Monitor utilization of equipment to maximize material usage (remove underutilized pieces from site using reports and key performance indicators i.e. – Scaffold Log estimate equipment versus actual equipment, estimated days standing versus actual days standing
- Receive scaffold build requests from Subcontractor after Scaffold Coordinator approval and prepare packages for pick-up in the scaffold yard on a predetermined schedule
- Attend and participate in coordination meetings with all disciplines
- Create a scaffold material movement plan to maximize the recycling of material across the project site according to schedule (review reports and KPIs)
- Update workforce planning records in scaffold summary sheets daily to report on scaffold variances
- Report expenditure trends against budget using scaffold report variances set out in the scaffold log (Estimated hours versus actual hours / Planned erection dates / dismantle dates versus actual erection / dismantle dates
- Monitor square-foot decking and report installation and removal
- Monitor scaffolding and input estimated versus actual pieces and weights
Typical Minimum Qualifications – Related Education, Experience & Skills
- Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and seven (7) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) years if non-degreed
- Working knowledge of scaffold design and CSA scaffold requirements (CSA-Z797-18)
- Practical scaffold design and/or scaffold build experience
- Excellent 2D and 3D CAD skills preferably in AutoCAD
- Experience with Navisworks Simulate
- Knowledge of Architectural drawing standards with the ability to read and prepare Architectural drawings
- Proficient computer and software skills including the use of word processing, email, spreadsheets, scheduling software, design software, and estimating tools
- Ability to assemble accurate and complete 3D models of customer projects
- Ability to produce detailed installation and assembly drawings with full material lists
