Supply Chain Specialist - GMP
Client : Biotechnology company
Contract duration : 12-month contract (possibility of extension)
Location : Toronto
Pay Rate : $30-35 /hr
Description of Position:
Our biotech client is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist to support their GMP warehousing and manufacturing operations activities at their GMP pilot facility and GMP warehousing external partners. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this position will have accountability for all inbound/outbound materials flow operations (raw materials and finished goods), receiving raw materials into the inventory and ERP system, maintenance of GMP related receiving documentation on Veeva QMS system, materials management and readiness for GMP manufacturing and assisting in materials shipments to outsourced testing labs, external warehouses, other client sites or external ship-to entities.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for receiving raw materials, reagents, plasticwares, supplies, consumables, equipment, parts, and any other inventory and non-inventory item(s) related to the operation of the GMP facility in line with GMP procedures in Oracle ERP system and Veeva QMS system.
- Materials management and readiness for GMP manufacturing, which includes material retrieval from external warehousing partners and managing inventory offsite and onsite through ERP system.
- Supports maintaining master and transactional data in Oracle ERP system of all GMP inventory, materials, and supplies efficiently as they are received, picked, staged and consumed for production and support execution of these activities in the GMP logistics rooms/warehouse.
- Manages shipping requests from the GMP facility ensuring timely delivery of critical samples in the required temperature configurations with permits and documentation
- Support and assist in the secure and compliant materials flow operations, storage and control of raw materials, process intermediates and final product in the required conditions, following and supporting 5S, continuous improvement, operational excellence, QA audits, daily walk-abouts and GMP standards
- Verifies receipt of items in Oracle ERP system by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves error in shipments with supply planners; receives goods in ERP system using packing slips and act as liaison with accounts payable for PO receipt matters.
- Maintains high level of communication with supply planning, manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control, facilities, and MSAT departments for optimal day-to-day operations and for issue resolution.
- Conducts inventory management and tracking operations including, cycle counts and reconciliation of inventory as required.
- Keeps accurate records and information accessible by sorting and filing documents
- Update KPI metrics and reports as needed.
- Assist with cross-functional requests and projects as needed.
- Culture of Quality: QMS system management related to quality events, CAPAs, SOP updates, Impact Assessments, raw materials specifications intake form updates, change controls, on-time SOP trainings and others.
- Equipment management support such as, quarterly and annual defrosting of ULT freezers, Temperature REES and Qualer management alerts and shipment handling for calibration.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business, scientific discipline or related field is required
- A minimum of 2+ years’ experience in supply chain and logistics required
- Demonstrated experience with GMP warehousing and logistics support
- Highly functional in a fast-paced dynamic company with ability to prioritize issues under differing pressures and shifting timelines
- Ability to provide exceptional service to internal customers with a sense of urgency.
- Views change or problems as an opportunity to learn and grow; adjusts easily to change.
- Works well with others on both an individual level, cross functionally and in team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with GxP guidelines/documentation and general GMP experience is an asset
- Demonstrated application of quality and efficiency improvement methods such as LEAN, Six Sigma, 5S.
- Experience in working with electronic systems. ERP, QMS, Smartsheet, Microsoft Office Programs.
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems independently.
- Ability to, on occasion, lift up to 20kg and/or work with a partner to lift anything heavier.
Work Environment:
Due to the main responsibilities of this position including on site shipping/receiving, it will require the individual to work in our controlled lab / office site regularly.
