We’re partnering with a well-established and growing organization in the Nisku area to recruit an experienced
Intermediate Accountant. This is a hands-on, full-cycle accounting role supporting a diverse portfolio of companies across commercial real estate, energy, manufacturing and other industries.
The organization is actively growing through acquisitions and currently oversees numerous subsidiary companies. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys variety, takes pride in accurate and timely work, and wants to be part of a small, collaborative accounting team.
This position will begin as a
3-month contract, fully onsite in Nisku, with potential to transition into a permanent role.
What You’ll Be Doing- Manage full-cycle accounting for approximately 9–12 companies.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial information.
- Complete bank reconciliations, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and prepare depreciation calculations.
- Process and reconcile intercompany transactions between related entities.
- Prepare GST/PST reporting, payments and registrations.
- Support government, WCB and other compliance reporting requirements.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Review accounts, investigate discrepancies and respond to financial reporting inquiries.
- Complete foreign exchange calculations and accounting related to banking, AP, AR and intercompany transactions.
- Provide vacation coverage for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable when required.
- Process full-cycle payroll for some smaller companies, including payroll journal entries, accruals and related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with process improvements and the development of accounting procedures as the organization continues to grow.
- Support additional accounting projects and responsibilities as required.
What We’re Looking For- 3–5+ years of progressive, hands-on full-cycle accounting experience.
- Experience with accounting for multiple companies or legal entities is required.
- Accounting diploma, bookkeeping certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with commercial property accounting is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of bank and account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end procedures and financial reporting.
- Working knowledge of GAAP/ASPE.
- Understanding of foreign exchange calculations and transactions.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Sage and QuickBooks Desktop/Online experience is an asset.
- Experience with accounting for US companies is a strong asset.
- AutoPoint or Journey experience would be highly valued.
- Ceridian or other payroll experience is an asset.
