Our Challenge
We are seeking a Senior BigQuery Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data solutions on Google Cloud Platform. This role will develop reliable data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, and analytics platforms using BigQuery and related GCP services. The ideal candidate is a strong technical contributor who can collaborate with cross-functional teams, solve complex data challenges, and mentor other engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable data warehouses, data marts, and analytics solutions using BigQuery.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize complex SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and data models.
- Build and manage batch and real-time ETL/ELT pipelines using GCP services.
- Improve BigQuery performance and control costs through partitioning, clustering, materialized views, and workload optimization.
- Implement data quality checks, monitoring, alerting, and pipeline reliability standards.
- Apply data security, governance, access control, and compliance best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, participate in technical design and code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and mentor junior engineers.
Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or a related discipline.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Google BigQuery.
- Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, analytical functions, and data transformation.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and large-scale data processing.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or another programming language.
- Experience with GCP services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, Dataproc, IAM, and Cloud Monitoring.
