Reporting to the Superintendent – Operations Technology, the Senior Operations Technology Specialist connects frontline operations, data, and technology to improve safety, reliability, productivity, and decision-making across the Blackwater Mine. The role leads high-impact technology and process improvement initiatives from business case through implementation, adoption, performance measurement, and sustained value delivery.
Location: Blackwater Mine Site
Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation
Responsibilities
Lead the evaluation, implementation, integration, support, and continuous improvement of
operational technology across mining, processing, maintenance, and site support functions.
Identify, assess, and prioritize improvement opportunities using operational data, stakeholder
requirements, risk, cost, feasibility, and expected business value.
Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives that increase safety, reliability, productivity, cost
effectiveness, and operational efficiency, with clear performance measures and accountable
benefits tracking.
- Partner with site departments to define trusted data sources, develop meaningful KPIs, automate operational and management reporting, and deliver dashboards and analysis that support timely decisions.
- May be required to maintain a clean-shaven appearance (i.e. no facial hair) to ensure the safe and effective use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with assigned duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in mining engineering, mineral processing, computer science, information systems, data analytics, engineering technology, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
Five to eight years of progressive experience delivering operational technology, data analytics, systems integration, or business improvement initiatives in mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or another safety-critical operating environment.
Previous gold mine and processing facility experience is highly desirable.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Advanced data management and reporting skills are required.
Understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance in mining operations.
Preferred Skills
Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation
Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team
Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift
Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
