Position Summary
Ascent Pro Care Inc. is seeking a Nurse Aide to provide direct care and support to clients while also carrying additional administrative and operational responsibilities related to the delivery and coordination of home-care services.
The position combines hands-on client care responsibilities with administrative and operational functions that support the efficient delivery, coordination, documentation, staffing, and quality of home-care services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse.
- Serve meal trays and feed patients.
- Weigh, lift, turn and position patients.
- Make beds and maintain patients' rooms.
- Bathe, dress and groom patients.
- Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living and provide personal care and support in accordance with established care plans and organizational procedures.
- Observe and report changes in clients' physical condition, behaviour or care needs to the appropriate supervisor or health-care professional.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation relating to client care and services provided.
- Follow established health, safety, infection-prevention, privacy and client-care procedures.
- Work collaboratively with caregivers, health-care professionals, clients and their families to support continuity and quality of care.
- Assist with maintaining a safe, clean and comfortable environment for clients.
- Provide support to clients in a respectful, compassionate and professional manner.
In addition to the direct-care responsibilities outlined above, the position includes the following administrative and operational management responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the company’s administrative and operational functions to ensure efficient home-care service delivery;
- Oversee employee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, performance management, training and offboarding;
- Plan and oversee workforce allocation, caregiver scheduling and staffing requirements based on client and operational needs;
- Develop, implement and monitor administrative policies, procedures and operational workflows;
- Oversee employee records, certifications, benefits, payroll information and other personnel administration;
- Establish and monitor quality-assurance, documentation and compliance procedures and implement corrective measures where required;
- Develop and oversee employee training and continuing-education programs;
- Monitor operational expenses, reimbursements and administrative resources and assist with budgeting and resource planning;
- Identify operational issues and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and service quality;
- Prepare operational reports and recommendations for management and participate in organizational planning and decision-making.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Nursing Aide Certificate and/or Health Care Aide Certificate.
- BLS/CPR and AED Certification.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate client and employee records.
- Ability to coordinate multiple operational and client-care priorities.
- Ability to perform physically demanding duties, including standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting, turning and positioning clients.
- Ability to distinguish between colours.
- Strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
