About the Role:
As Procurement Lead, you will manage end-to-end procurement activities that support Ashcor’s operations and growth across Canada and the United States. Drawing on your experience and sound judgement, you will develop sourcing strategies, lead competitive procurement processes, negotiate commercial terms, and secure the materials, equipment, and services the business needs to operate effectively.
You will work closely with Operations, Projects, suppliers, and other stakeholders to balance cost, quality, delivery, risk, and business priorities. This is an opportunity to build trusted relationships, solve complex supply challenges, improve procurement practices, and influence decisions that strengthen operational performance.
What You Get to Do:
- Lead assigned procurement for Ashcor’s Canadian and U.S. operations, serving as the primary contact for Operations, Projects, and vendors.
- Develop procurement plans, sourcing strategies, schedules, and records for materials, equipment, services, logistics, and freight.
- Prepare and issue requests for quotations and proposals; evaluate submissions and recommend suppliers based on cost, quality, risk, delivery, and commercial requirements.
- Negotiate and coordinate procurement and contract terms from initial sourcing through contract closeout.
- Issue and approve purchase orders in accordance with Ashcor policies, ensuring accuracy, completeness, compliance, and appropriate risk mitigation.
- Track and expedite orders, services, logistics, and freight; resolve delivery, quality, invoice, and supplier issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor supplier markets, pricing, lead times, and availability to manage cost exposure and reduce supply risk.
- Conduct supplier facility visits, site visits, and inspections to support sourcing, performance, and compliance requirements.
- Train stakeholders on procurement processes and procedures, and implement improvements that streamline workflows and strengthen procurement outcomes.
- Perform procurement activities in accordance with health, safety, environmental, security, and company requirements, and address unsafe or non-compliant conditions.
What You Bring:
- High school diploma, General Educational Development (GED), or Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC); post-secondary education in supply chain management, procurement, business, or a related field is preferred
- Five or more years of progressively responsible procurement experience, including sourcing, tendering, supplier evaluation, negotiation, contracting, and purchase order management
- Skilled at building stakeholder and supplier relationships, organizing complex work, and communicating clearly in writing and in conversation
- Sound judgement and the ability to negotiate effectively, identify strategic sourcing opportunities, balance competing priorities, and work independently or collaboratively while providing responsive service
- Strong knowledge of competitive tendering and contract management, including procurement documents, commercial language, contract applications, and terms and conditions
- Able to manage multiple procurement activities, adjust priorities as business needs change, and meet time-sensitive commitments
- A strong commitment to Health & Safety and a culture of caring
- Experience with Oracle or another ERP is an asset
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation is an asset
