Role Description The Dog Groomer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Montreal Metropolitan Area. This role involves performing all aspects of dog grooming, including bathing, brushing, clipping, trimming, and styling coats to ensure dogs are clean, comfortable, and well-presented. The Dog Groomer will assess each dog’s coat and skin condition, recommend appropriate grooming services, and maintain a calm, safe environment throughout the grooming process. Daily responsibilities include handling and securing dogs, monitoring their well-being, maintaining grooming equipment and cleanliness of the grooming area, and following health and safety protocols. The Dog Groomer will also interact directly with customers, discussing grooming preferences, providing after-care advice, and helping build a friendly, trusted community space.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Pet Grooming and Clipping, including bathing, brushing, coat styling, and basic coat and skin assessment.
- Strong Pet Care abilities, with a focus on animal handling, safety, comfort, and recognizing signs of stress or health concerns.
- Customer Service and Communication skills to engage with clients, understand their needs, and provide clear grooming recommendations and feedback.
- Previous experience as a dog groomer or in a professional dog care environment is highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of different dog breeds, coat types, and grooming techniques, including safe use and maintenance of grooming tools.
- Ability to work on-site full-time, stand for extended periods, and safely lift or handle dogs of various sizes.
- Commitment to a gender-neutral, inclusive, and non-discriminatory approach to working with clients and colleagues.
- Relevant grooming certifications or training in animal care are an asset.
