Data Engineer (Google Cloud Platform (GCP) & BigQuery)
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to support the Cloud & Infrastructure team in defining and implementing its data strategy. This role will focus on building scalable data products, reducing cloud infrastructure costs through data-driven insights, and improving the resiliency and maintainability of a large-scale data ecosystem consisting of over 200 data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines that ingest data from various Systems of Record into Google BigQuery.
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to transform raw data into reliable and consumable data products.
- Develop scalable data solutions that support analytics and operational decision-making.
- Implement pipeline optimization, monitoring, alerting, retry mechanisms, and self-healing capabilities.
- Improve the reliability, performance, and maintainability of more than 200 production data pipelines.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support the Cloud & Infrastructure data strategy and roadmap.
- Contribute to initiatives focused on cloud cost optimization and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer developing, optimizing, and maintaining robust ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including:
- BigQuery
- Dataflow
- Dataproc
- Cloud Run
- Cloud Storage
- Strong expertise in data modeling, including:
- Logical and physical data models
- Dimensional modeling
- BigQuery-specific physical data modeling
- Strong SQL development and optimization skills.
- Experience working with large-scale, production-grade data environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience implementing data observability, monitoring, and automated recovery processes.
- Experience supporting cloud cost optimization initiatives.
- Knowledge of data platform operations and reliability engineering principles.

- Defining and implementing a data strategy.
- Building data products that enable the reduction of cloud and infrastructure costs.
- Establishing an operational framework that makes over 200 data pipelines resilient, scalable, and low maintenance.
