Role Description This full-time, on-site Plow Cat Operator role is based in Saskatchewan, Canada. The Plow Cat Operator will operate plow cat and related heavy equipment to install, backfill, and grade underground utilities and pipelines in a variety of terrains and weather conditions. Day-to-day tasks include safely maneuvering equipment, reading and following site plans, coordinating with ground crews, and performing pre-operation and post-operation inspections and basic maintenance on machinery. The role also involves adhering to company and regulatory safety procedures, monitoring worksite conditions, reporting hazards, and completing required documentation such as equipment logs and safety checklists. The Plow Cat Operator will collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production targets while maintaining quality and site cleanliness.
Qualifications
- Heavy equipment operation skills, including experience with plow cats or similar machinery, and ability to interpret site drawings and grade requirements.
- Strong safety awareness, knowledge of safe work practices, and commitment to following COR and ISN-aligned safety policies and procedures.
- Basic mechanical skills for conducting equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and identifying potential mechanical issues.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with crew members, supervisors, and other contractors on-site.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, stand or sit for extended periods, and perform manual tasks as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; willingness to travel within Saskatchewan and, when required, broader Central and Western Canada.
- Previous experience in construction, excavation, oil and gas, utilities, or telecom industries is an asset.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., first aid/CPR, WHMIS, H2S Alive, or equivalent) are considered an advantage.
