Axium Power Services and Axium High Voltage provide high-voltage electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance, transformer services, engineering support, and related field services across Canada and the United States. We are growing quickly and are looking for a practical, capable QHSE Supervisor to take ownership of our quality, health, safety, and environmental programs.
This is not a desk-only safety position. It is a hands-on leadership role with real authority.
Reporting directly to the President, you will be Axium’s senior functional authority for QHSE. You will have the authority to establish requirements, stop unsafe work, lead investigations, require corrective action, and escalate unresolved concerns. You will work directly with operations leaders, project managers, supervisors, and field crews to build systems that work in the real world.
This role is ideal for a strong mid-career QHSE professional who is ready to independently own a growing company’s program, spend meaningful time in the field, and improve both safety performance and the quality of our client deliverables.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and continually improve Axium’s QHSE management system across Canadian and U.S. operations
- Maintain compliance with applicable Alberta, Canadian, and U.S. requirements, including COR, WCB, and OSHA obligations
- Conduct field inspections, observations, coaching visits, and compliance audits
- Lead incident and high-potential near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness reviews
- Maintain practical controls for electrical safety, lockout and tagout, hazard assessments, working alone, journey management, emergency response, and other critical risks
- Exercise stop-work authority where an imminent danger, serious compliance issue, material quality failure, or unacceptable risk exists
- Develop and maintain Axium’s quality-management system, including project quality plans, inspection and test plans, hold points, non-conformances, corrective actions, and audit readiness
- Ensure field records, test reports, calibration records, deficiency lists, and final client deliverables are complete, accurate, traceable, and controlled
- Maintain practical environmental controls for oil handling, spills, hazardous materials, waste, storage, transportation, and disposal
- Maintain employee training, certification, competency, onboarding, and client-specific orientation records
- Manage contractor-compliance platforms such as Avetta, ISNetworld, and ComplyWorks
- Track QHSE performance, report material risks and trends to leadership, and keep controlled policies, procedures, forms, and records current
What We’re Looking For
- Approximately three or more years of progressive QHSE, HSE, safety, or quality experience in industrial field service, electrical power, utilities, commissioning, construction, manufacturing, or another high-risk environment
- Post-secondary education in occupational health and safety, quality, environmental management, engineering technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage programs, conduct field inspections, lead investigations, and write practical procedures
- Working knowledge of Alberta occupational health and safety requirements and the ability to interpret requirements in other Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions
- Strong judgment, organization, communication, and follow-through
- Confidence to intervene when operational pressure conflicts with safety or quality requirements
- Valid driver’s licence and passport, with the ability to travel to field locations in Canada and the United States
Preferred, Not Required
- NCSO, CRSP, CRST, CHSC, COR Auditor, ISO 9001 auditor, or comparable credential
- Candidates actively working toward a professional designation will be considered
- Experience with high-voltage work, arc-flash hazards, lockout and tagout, transformers, commissioning, or NETA testing environments
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, root-cause analysis, and continuous-improvement programs
- Experience administering Avetta, ISNetworld, or ComplyWorks

Compensation is $85,000 to $110,000 per year, based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to independently manage the role.
