Accounting Specialist / Senior Accounting Associate
Location: Laval - in the office 5 days/week

Our client is looking for a highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist / Senior Accounting Associate to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with a strong foundation in day-to-day accounting and who is interested in developing toward a future Controller-level role.
The ideal candidate has several years of accounting experience, is highly proficient in Excel, learns quickly, takes ownership of their work, and is comfortable providing guidance and oversight to a junior employee.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily Accounts Receivable (AR) and manage Accounts Payable (AP)
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records
- Assist with account analysis and reconciliations
- Prepare Excel reports, schedules, and financial analysis
- Work closely with management and other departments as needed
- Take on additional accounting responsibilities as skills and experience develop
Qualifications
- Several years of hands-on accounting experience
- Strong understanding of AP, AR, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly organized with strong time-management skills
- Able to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Quick learner who is willing to take on new responsibilities
- Comfortable overseeing and providing guidance to another employee
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Accounting diploma, degree, or equivalent practical experience is an asset
