Union: SEIU New or Replacement: Replacement Site: Toronto General Hospital Department: Multi Organ Transplant Unit Reports to: Nurse Manager Wage Range: $37.33 - $38.16 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement requirements) Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week Shifts: 12 Hours, Days/Nights Status: Temporary Full-Time (Contract End Date ~ Jan 15, 2028) Organ transplants are a life-saving treatment for patients with organ failure involving the heart, liver, lung, kidney, pancreas, islet or small bowel. The Multi Organ Transplant Unit provides care to new solid organ transplant recipients and those requiring readmission for related health issues, living donors and pre-transplant liver failure patients. Our internationally renowned Multi Organ Transplant Program serves Toronto, as well as Ontario, Canada and the international community. With specialists in clinical care, diagnosis, research and support services, our high standard of care rivals any other.Current Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification Minimum one (1) year general medical/surgical experience required Excellent interpersonal and decision making skills Previous transplant nursing experience preferred Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario preferred ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Authorization/certification, care and maintenance in the following: immunosuppressive drug therapy, TPN, PCA, Accuchek, capping off central lines, venipuncture, IV therapy, Peritoneal Dialysis, accessing hemodialysis lines, removal of central lines.Why join UHN? Responsibilities
Provide nursing care to new solid organ transplant recipients, patients readmitted with transplant-related health issues, living donors, and patients with pre-transplant liver failure. Support care and maintenance procedures involving transplant therapies, vascular access, dialysis, and other specialized treatments.
Requirements
Applicants must hold current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, have Basic Cardiac Life Support certification, and have at least one year of general medical-surgical experience. Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills are required; transplant nursing experience and membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario are preferred.
