Role Description The Geospatial Exploration Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON. This position is responsible for acquiring, processing, and analyzing geospatial and geological data to support mineral exploration decision-making. Daily tasks include compiling spatial datasets, generating maps and visualizations, conducting spatial analyses, and maintaining geospatial databases and metadata. The specialist collaborates with geologists, engineers, and project managers to interpret exploration results, optimize drill targeting, and produce clear, accurate reports and presentation materials. The role also involves ensuring data quality, adhering to company standards and regulatory requirements, and contributing to the continuous improvement of geospatial workflows and tools.
Qualifications
- Strong GIS and geospatial analysis skills, with experience using tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in spatial data management, including database design, data integration, and metadata documentation.
- Ability to interpret geological, geophysical, and topographic data and translate findings into clear maps and models.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting, including producing professional map layouts and technical documentation.
- Relevant academic background, such as a degree in Geology, Geography, Geomatics, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to accuracy and detail in data handling.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in an on-site environment.
- Familiarity with mining or exploration industry practices and safety standards is an asset.
- Comfort with field data collection technologies and remote sensing tools is beneficial.
