About the Role:
The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping our production equipment, facilities, and workspaces safe, reliable, and effective. This is a hands-on role for someone who can troubleshoot problems, complete repairs, perform preventative maintenance, build practical improvements, and take ownership of the physical systems that support day-to-day operations. This role will report to our General Manager, and work day-to-day with our Manufacturing and General Services team. There will also be support from a host of qualified and specialized contracts as needed.
We work with a variety of tools, forklifts and lift trucks, welders, ventilation and filtration systems - just to name a few!
The role combines manufacturing equipment maintenance with facilities work, fabrication, workspace improvements, and project support. As BAUCO grows, this position will also play an important role in equipment installations, facility changes, warehouse setup, and commissioning new machinery. Every improvement made in this role makes us more productive, safer, and better organized.
A Day in the Life:
You are someone who notices what needs attention and takes initiative rather than waiting to be assigned every task. You enjoy troubleshooting, building, fixing, and improving things, and you take pride in leaving equipment and work areas better than you found them. You approach problems methodically, know when to bring in outside expertise, and balance immediate repairs with longer-term preventative priorities. You enjoy a varied role, where no two days are exactly the same. Typical working hours would be Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm, with flexibility for emergency repairs, scheduled equipment shutdowns or weekend project work outside standard business hours.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
Manufacturing Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Responding to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance issues promptly, with a focus on restoring equipment safely and minimizing downtime
Systematically diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults and determining the appropriate repair or next step
Troubleshooting industrial electrical components and controls within the limits of your training and qualifications, including motors, sensors, switches, relays, and contactors
Reading and using equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics to support troubleshooting and repairs
Investigating recurring failures, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions rather than repeatedly treating symptoms
Making recommendations for equipment repairs, modifications, upgrades, or replacement when appropriate
Preventative Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
Performing scheduled preventative maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations and BAUCO maintenance schedules
Maintaining accurate maintenance records, PM checklists, equipment history, and service documentation
Helping develop and continuously improve preventative maintenance schedules based on equipment condition, service history, and observed failure patterns
Identifying critical spare parts and consumables and helping maintain appropriate inventory to reduce avoidable downtime
Building & Facilities
Performing repairs and maintenance throughout the facility, including doors, shelving, fixtures, lighting, and other building components
Identifying facility issues before they become larger problems and prioritizing work based on safety, operational impact, and urgency
Coordinating repairs or upgrades requiring outside contractors and verifying that work is completed appropriately
Supporting office renovations, workspace reconfigurations, warehouse expansions, and facility improvement projects
Shop Improvements, Fabrication & Projects
Designing, building, and installing workbenches, shelving, storage systems, fixtures, and production aids
Supporting planning, preparation, and setup for new production equipment - including delivery, installation, utility requirements, startup, and commissioning
Participating in continuous improvement initiatives with production and other departments to improve workflow, uptime, safety, and ergonomics
Ensuring manuals, spare parts lists, and service information are captured when new equipment is commissioned
Safety & Work Practices
Following all machine safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and safe-work procedures at all times
Recognizing when work requires a licensed trade or specialist and coordinating appropriate outside support
Keeping maintenance work areas, tools, parts, and materials organized and safe
Communicating equipment status, risks, and expected downtime clearly to affected employees and production teams
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Practical experience and demonstrated capability matter more to us than any single trade designation. We are looking for someone with broad mechanical skills and strong industrial troubleshooting ability who can take real ownership of this role.
Hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similarly equipment-intensive environment
Strong mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance skills
Industrial electrical troubleshooting experience and the ability to safely diagnose common electrical and control issues within the limits of your training
Ability to read equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics
Experience performing and documenting preventative maintenance
Strong understanding of machine safety, energy isolation, and lockout/tagout practices
Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete work independently while supporting the needs of production and the broader facility
Good communication, organization, and documentation skills
The ability to work with production employees, office staff, managers, contractors and equipment suppliers
Strong Assets
Electrical certification or another relevant skilled-trade designation
Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, motor controls, sensors, and industrial control systems
Welding, fabrication, machining, or related shop skills
Experience installing, relocating, and commissioning production equipment
Experience coordinating contractors, service technicians, and equipment vendors
Experience supporting facility expansions, warehouse setup, or manufacturing layout changes
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily on-site across production, shop, warehouse, office and facility areas.
The role involves regular use of hand and power tools and working around operating machinery and industrial equipment.
The position requires following appropriate PPE, lockout/tagout and safe-work practices.
Some maintenance or project work may need to be completed outside normal production activity to safely access equipment or minimize operational disruption.
The role requires the physical ability to perform hands-on maintenance work, including standing, bending, reaching, climbing and handling tools and materials appropriate to the task.
