Student Project Coordinator
At BAUER Foundations Canada (BFCA), we offer engineering students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on challenging construction and infrastructure projects across Canada.
Our Engineering Co-op Program is designed for motivated students at Canadian schools who want to take their classroom knowledge into the field and build practical experience in civil, construction, geotechnical, and specialized foundation engineering.
Co-op opportunities are available year-round for 4-, 8-, or 12-month terms, depending on project and business needs.

The Opportunity
As a Student Project Coordinator, you’ll gain hands-on experience working directly on active construction projects.
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, site supervisors, and construction professionals, supporting the coordination and execution of project activities. You’ll help identify and address field issues, support technical problem-solving, and contribute to the successful delivery of specialized foundation and construction projects.
You’ll develop a strong understanding of project contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scope of work while gaining practical experience in field engineering, project coordination, quality assurance and control, and construction documentation.
This is a hands-on and diverse role where you’ll work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, health and safety professionals, and field personnel.
What You’ll Learn
During your co-op term, you’ll gain practical experience and develop an understanding of how complex construction and foundation projects are planned, coordinated, and delivered.
You’ll have the opportunity to learn about:
- Specialized foundations and geotechnical construction, including foundation systems, ground improvement, cut-off walls, and complex excavations.
- Field engineering and construction methods, including interpreting drawings and specifications, assessing site conditions, and supporting technical problem-solving.
- Project coordination and management, including scheduling, progress tracking, and coordination with project teams and subcontractors.
- Quality assurance and quality control, including inspections, material testing, and project documentation.
- Construction operations, working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, supervisors, and specialized field crews.
- Health and safety, gaining experience working within the requirements of an active construction site.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and quality assurance and control of foundation and construction projects.
- Support project teams with technical analysis, calculations, research, data interpretation, and field coordination.
- Review project drawings, specifications, contract documents, and material requirements.
- Help verify that materials and construction activities meet project specifications and quality requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of project progress reports, studies, analyses, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate with project personnel, subcontractors, consultants, inspectors, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with field inspections of foundation excavations and construction activities.
- Support field coordination with contractors, inspectors, and drilling and construction crews.
- Assist with the identification and classification of soil and ground conditions encountered during construction.
- Prepare and maintain detailed daily construction and quality documentation.
- Participate in field and material testing and inspections as required, including soil, slurry, and concrete.
- Support the project team in identifying and resolving technical and construction-related issues that arise in the field.
Qualifications
We’re looking for students who are curious, motivated, and eager to learn in a hands-on construction environment.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, or Construction Engineering, or a related discipline at a university or college near one of our office locations.
- Students enrolled in an engineering technology program are also encouraged to apply.
- Previous co-op, internship, or work experience in construction is an asset, but not required.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Comfortable working in both an office and active construction site environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with a Windows-based computer environment.
- Valid driver’s licence; access to a vehicle is preferred.
