The BBA Field Services team is looking for new team members who thrive on technical challenges, enjoy problem-solving and are committed to exceeding client expectations.
You’ll serve primarily as a project manager, supporting clients while also contributing as a seller/doer. You’ll serve as a resource and owner’s engineer for multiple projects involving high-voltage facilities, balance-of-plant systems and the integration of equipment for power transmission facilities.
We’re seeking someone who can work independently while actively engaging with the team to share knowledge and develop relationships that support the growth and expansion of Field Services across Western Canada and internationally.

- Provide commissioning and maintenance expertise within a practice-centered business, providing technical support for both clients and internal teams. This may include serving as a subject matter expert on projects or responding to client requests for investigations and troubleshooting
- Help create proposals and business readiness documentation while ensuring proper project management quality processes are followed
- Support the commissioning of specialized equipment, including converter transformers, rectifiers, power electronics and the associated protection and control systems
- Help grow a team with strong expertise in balance-of-plant systems for power generation and transmission facilities, while developing your own subject matter expertise in key technical areas
- Support the project management and technical execution of projects across multiple BBA groups
- Serve as a trusted client-facing resource to help clients identify and implement effective solutions
- Support business relations and maintain high-quality professional services while spending up to 30% of your time on site, including factory inspections
- Apply established work methods and help with their continuous improvement
- Foster productive working relationships with colleagues, clients and project partners while maintaining the quality of professional services delivered
- Follow, review and implement safety procedures and requirements
- Help deliver detailed engineering projects
- Draft technical documents, commissioning reports, calculation notes and estimates

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma (technologist) in electrical engineering, telecommunications or another related field
- From 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in electrical apparatus commissioning, maintenance, protection relays, telecommunications and control systems testing
- Experience working in operating and brownfield facilities with industrial and utility systems
- Comfortable working in challenging weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, as well as driving on winter roads, in remote locations and on forest service roads
- Comfortable working in remote areas with limited means of communication
- Able to lift 70 lbs regularly
- Available to travel to BBA offices across Canada
- Available for short- and long-term work assignments at client sites throughout Canada
- Asset: Bilingual (English and French)
- Asset: experience with power control systems for the power generation and renewable energy sectors
- Asset: knowledge of and experience with industry-standard communications protocols, such as DNP3, Modbus and IEC 61850, in industrial or utility applications
