The expected starting base salary for this position is $80,282 - $83,858 annually, depending on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience. Once hired, you will progress through a wider salary range over time as you continue to develop job knowledge, skills and competencies for the role.

What you’ll be doing
This position strengthens governance literacy, capability, and compliance across the organization by developing resources and education that support understanding of board roles, committee structures, decision-making processes, and evolving legislative and regulatory requirements (e.g., Health Professions and Occupations Act and new reporting relationship with the Health Professions and Occupations Act and Regulatory Oversight Office (HPOROO).
This position also contributes to organizational risk mitigation by strengthening governance capability, consistency, and compliance through the support and delivery of timely and effective education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the system administrator and manage the Board and Committee Learning Management System (BCLMS).
- Work with the Governance Advisors to curate, develop, upload, and maintain learning content, ensuring materials remain current, relevant, and accessible to a diverse audience, supporting a range of learning needs and preferences.
- Facilitate or moderate in‑person and virtual learning sessions, including workshops, lunch‑and‑learns, and group forums.
- Coordinate and deliver governance education for board members, including new board member orientation, onboarding, ongoing learning, and collective learning sessions.
- Provide support to board members pursuing individual learning plans and relevant education opportunities.
- Partner with committee liaisons and Governance Advisors to coordinate committee orientation.
- Coordinate annual board and committee education calendars and schedules in collaboration with internal teams to align learning opportunities with governance priorities.
- In collaboration with the Reconciliation and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) team, ensure learning materials and delivery methods are culturally respectful, inclusive, and aligned with organizational commitments to Indigenous-specific anti-racism, including the Safe Spaces Playbook.
- In collaboration with REDI team, support the integration of Indigenous‑Specific Anti‑Racism, anti‑oppression, and anti‑discrimination learning across board and committee governance education.
- Monitor participation, track completion, and engagement to support the application of learning, skills development, and continuous improvement of education processes.
- Contribute to or prepare reports for the Board, Governance Committee, or other internal teams, as appropriate, on participation, outcomes, and progress against learning objectives, to inform annual education, budget, and strategic planning.
- Maintain and coordinate a library of education and learning resources to support board and committee governance, in partnership with BCCNM Library Services and Learning & Development staff.
Your education & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in education, governance, public administration, communications, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience supporting boards, committees, or governance professionals in a regulatory or non-profit sector and/or experience developing and delivering adult learning programs.
- Demonstrated experience and/or training in learning management systems and digital learning tools.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and measure learning outcomes and interpret participation and feedback data.
- Experience supporting organizational change or education management is an asset.
- Strong understanding of governance principles, board and committee roles, and public or non‑profit accountability frameworks is preferred.
- Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous Peoples in social and health contexts, including social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and knowledge of Indigenous-specific anti-racism and accompanying reports (e.g. The Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), the In Plain Sight Report (2020), and Reclaiming Power and Place’s Calls for Justice (2019), is an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility as apply to health care is an asset.
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential, and complex information with discretion, sound judgment, and care.
- Ability to prioritize multiple streams of work, attend to detail, and deliver a high standard of work.
- Ability to be compassionate, open-minded, and actively listen to support the connection of ideas, individuals, and teams across organizations.
