Position Overview
The Manager, Operations Accounting and Reporting is responsible for ensuring accurate financial results for Beedie’s Property Management, Development Management, Asset Management, Leasing, and Construction Management platforms both in their capacity as manager of Beedie’s wholly owned assets and for assets owned in part or in whole by clients and third-party partners. This role will provide the business units and the executive team with timely, reliable financial insights to help the respective business leaders maximize performance while ensuring adherence to the required control and decision-making frameworks.
This is a hands-on leadership role that manages a small team, coordinates activities with other finance teams, and improves the processes and controls of the businesses.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting and Reporting
- Lead accounting and financial reporting for Beedie’s operating businesses, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual close; reconciliations; intercompany activity; cost allocations; fee revenue; management reporting; year-end reporting; and audit support. Own the quality and integrity of the financial records
- Assess direct and indirect costs relative to their recovery mechanisms and fee revenue to provide proactive insights into the profitability of each business. Oversee the development, maintenance, and review of indirect cost allocation methodologies to ensure allocations are appropriate, accurate, and in alignment with underlying business activities
- Own financial results and related explanations, and support FP&A’s budgeting and forecasting processes with accurate accounting information and insights. Collaborate with FP&A and business leaders to develop KPIs that support management and executive oversight of the operating businesses including labour utilization, recovery analysis, and alignment of forecast and actual business activities
- Support the broader finance department by leading the monthly close process,
Business Partnership
- Serve as the primary Finance partner for the leaders of Beedie’s operating businesses. Build a strong understanding of Beedie’s businesses, including the various structures, revenue and cost drivers, and reporting needs
- Partner with business leaders and Finance teams to explain results, provide accounting insight, and support informed decisions
- Oversee regulatory and licensing requirements for the real estate brokerage operations, including related specified procedure engagements.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants
- Establish priorities, allocate work, and maintain clear expectations for quality, service, and deadlines.
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and practical problem-solving.
- Strengthen the team’s technical capabilities and business understanding
Processes, Controls, and Continuous Improvement
- Apply and monitor effective accounting processes and controls, collaborating with other Finance managers and business teams to implement consistent standards and documentation
- Identify areas of risk and propose mitigation strategies
- Manage process exceptions and confirm that processes produce the intended financial and business outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement by simplifying processes, improving consistency, and fixing root causes.
Desired Skills and Experience
- CPA designation or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and multi-entity environments
- Proven leadership experience developing teams and partnering with business stakeholders to understand operational activities and create practical solutions
- Real estate, construction, property management, or activity-based costing experience is an asset
- Strong process-improvement mindset with the ability to implement standards, document processes, and improve consistency.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with a commitment to financial accuracy and operational excellence

The annual base pay range for this position will be based on the desired experience level for this role.
