The Opportunity
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and highly motivated Junior Communications & Community Outreach Representative to join our Communications & Legal Resources Department.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys social media and storytelling, connects naturally with people, and wants to contribute to access to justice, grassroots initiatives, and projects that break down barriers.
You will help us reach broader audiences, build community relationships, and communicate information in clear, practical, and engaging ways. We are looking for a versatile individual who brings fresh ideas and has the organization and follow-through to turn those ideas into action.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Drafting and coordinating social media content, blog posts, newsletters, website materials, and public education resources;
- Helping translate complex information into accessible language for different audiences;
- Creating or assisting with short videos, graphics, and other digital content;
- Maintaining a content calendar and monitoring engagement to help improve our outreach;
- Supporting grassroots projects, awareness campaigns, community events, and initiatives that promote access to justice;
- Researching community needs and identifying opportunities to connect with local organizations and underserved groups;
- Assisting with community partnerships, media relations, and outreach coordination;
- Gathering feedback and helping identify practical ways to reduce barriers to information and services;
- Responding to and directing inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and care;
- Tracking deadlines, coordinating project tasks, maintaining records, and providing administrative support.

We are looking for:
- Relevant experience in communications, social media, community outreach, client service, project coordination, or administration; or a related degree or diploma and a strong interest in beginning a career in this field;
- An interest in access to justice, public education, community engagement, and reducing barriers;
- Excellent writing, editing, research, and interpersonal skills;
- Familiarity with social media platforms and the ability to adapt content for different audiences;
- Creativity and sound judgment when communicating about sensitive issues;
- A respectful, inclusive approach to working with people from diverse backgrounds;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with website publishing, graphic design, video editing, or analytics tools is an asset;
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through;
- A dependable work ethic, initiative, accountability, and respect for confidentiality;
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;
- A friendly, professional manner and a collaborative, flexible approach.
Experience with volunteering, student initiatives, community organizing, or grassroots projects is welcome. A legal background is not required.
