We are seeking one Geologists-in-Training for a Core Logger roles for an upcoming oilsands exploration drilling program. The Successful candidate will be based in Calgary, AB working an office schedule in a core logging facility. This role requires a minimum 1 to 3 years of professional experience, with preference given to those with oilsands mining experience. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract starting in Q4 2026.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Core logging of oilsands geological formations
- Geological descriptions and defining geological intervals for oilsands exploration
- Collection and preparation of geological samples for analysis
- Data analysis, interpretation, and correlation
- Working effectively both independently and in a team setting with other geologists and technicians
- Compliance with specified core logging standards
- Compliance with Health and Safety procedures and policies
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology or Earth Science
- Registration with APEGA as a Geologist-in-Training (G.I.T.); or P.Geo.
- Experience with oilsands mining is an asset, especially oilsands exploration and geology
- Available to work a regular schedule in a core logging facility in Calgary, AB
- Must be physically fit to perform daily tasks, including regularly lifting and managing drill core and drill boxes
- Successful completion of background reference checks, as well as verification of education, credentials, and legal ability to work in Canada
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- M-F, 8-hr work days
- Working at a lab / core logging facility in northeast Calgary
- Role supports the Geology and Mine Services division of a major oilsands operator
