We are currently seeking an experienced CSIA or CASI Level 2 or above (or international equivalent) instructor to join our Adult's Ski & Board School leadership team as a Team Lead. This full-time winter season position combines operational leadership responsibilities two days a week, and teaching within our Adult group and private lesson programs three days a week. Ideal candidates will have previous experience working in a busy international Ski & Board School environment, can demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, and have a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences while supporting and mentoring fellow instructors.
Duties and responsibilities as Team Lead include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Adult's Ski & Board School, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of lessons and programs
- Assisting with lesson deployment and coordinating instructor assignments to ensure the best possible guest experience
- Acting as a primary point of contact for instructors regarding operational questions, guest service concerns and daily communications
- Supporting instructors throughout the day, helping resolve operational challenges
- Responding to guest inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Working cooperatively and maintaining ongoing communication with instructors, managers, supervisors and support departments
- Completing administrative duties including attendance records, payroll verification and operational reporting
- Promoting and upholding all Ski & Board School policies, procedures and safety standards
Duties and responsibilities when Instructing include:
- Teaching ski or snowboard lessons following both the CSIA/CASI teaching methodology and the Big White Ski & Board School’s progression levels to a range of clients of all ages in both group and private settings
- Always working with safety in mind to safeguard guests and fellow workers
- Planning lesson content to create a safe and fun learning experience
- Evaluating lesson participants, completing achievement records and recommending what they can do next
- Ensuring effective public relations, and problem solving as required
- Working cooperatively and maintaining ongoing communication with other program staff
- Taking appropriate action to deal with incidents and emergencies, as outlined in the Ski & Board School’s policies and procedures
Position requirements/skills:
- CSIA or CASI Level 2 or above (or international equivalent)
- Previous ski or snowboard instructing experience teaching a variety of ages and ability levels
- Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences
- Ability to problem solve and make sound operational decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to motivate, support and provide guidance to fellow instructors
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
All applicants should submit a cover letter and resume with two contactable references and include copies of any relevant current certifications. Preference will be given to those who also have:
- Previous experience in a Ski & Board School leadership, supervisor or coordinator role
- Additional ski or snowboard certifications beyond Level 2
- Experience working with scheduling, lesson assignment or POS systems, including RTPOne or Flaik.
- Proficiency teaching in a second language, such as French or Spanish.
Criminal Record Checks:
All employees are subject to criminal record checks at Big White Ski Resort. Due to the fact that we are all dealing and working with children (defined as any persons 18 years of age or younger) on a daily basis throughout the season, it is imperative that these checks are done. It is the responsibility of the employee to provide a current criminal record check.
Physical demands:
- Ability to carry 40lbs/18kg while skiing/riding
- Ability and preparedness to work in extreme alpine weather conditions
- Ability to assist a fallen skier/snowboarder back onto their feet
- Ability to lift 40lbs/18kg
- Ability to ski/ride for up to 7 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk in ski or snowboard boots for extended periods
PLEASE NOTE: All employment offers to foreign nationals are conditional upon individuals obtaining their own valid working holiday visas for the coming winter season.
Starting wage - $24.50 CAD per hour plus sales incentives.
Target start date - 16th November 2026
