Role Description The Chef is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, responsible for leading kitchen operations and ensuring high-quality East Coast-inspired dishes are consistently prepared and presented. Day-to-day tasks include planning and executing menu items, managing food preparation and cooking, supervising kitchen staff, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. The Chef will monitor inventory, coordinate ordering, and manage waste to support cost-effective operations. This role also collaborates with management to refine menus, support special events, and maintain a positive, efficient, and inclusive kitchen culture.
Qualifications
- Culinary skills in menu execution, food preparation, and cooking, with a strong focus on consistency and flavor.
- Kitchen operations skills, including staff supervision, workflow coordination, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
- Food safety and sanitation knowledge, including adherence to health regulations and best practices for handling and storing ingredients.
- Inventory and cost management skills, including ordering, portion control, and minimizing food waste.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with front-of-house staff and management.
- Previous experience as a Chef, Sous Chef, or lead cook in a busy restaurant environment; experience with East Coast cuisine is an asset.
- Culinary education, apprenticeship, or equivalent on-the-job training is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced setting.
